What film camera for my black and white photography class?
I currently own a Nikon D40, but wanted to learn more about photography, so I enrolled in a black and white photography class at my school. We need a film camera, but since I already have a nice digital setup with a couple lenses, I was wondering what a good film camera for the class would be, that would be under a couple hundred dollars used.
Both Lenses I have are DX lenses, if that helps in what film camera I should get.

I love my Nikon FA. It has various auto modes for exposure, but can go full manual for your class. And except for any DX lenses you have, your Nikon lenses should work fine.
Go to adorama.com and look in the used section to get a good nikon film camera. Unfortunately DX lenses will vignette and crop on yor 35 mm film camera but any FX lenses you get for the film camera will work on your D40
The FA already mentioned is a great camera that was well ahead of its time when if was first produced.
If you’re shooting film you might as well consider getting a medium format camera, you can get really nice used ones nowadays for close to nothing, say a Pentax 67, Bronica 645 or maybe TLR like a Yashica / Rolleiflex. The increase in detail and tonality you get with a bigger negative is really nice, and more fun to play around with in the lab. Just a thought.
